BEING GREEN
Conserving, Recycling and Sustaining.
Chicago Beverage Systems is committed to a green supply chain that contributes to our brewing partners sustainable development initiatives and conserves resources for our communities today, tomorrow, and forever into the future.
WORKING SMARTER
We aim to work smarter every day and by evaluating the manner and efficiency of how product arrives in our warehouses, where the product is specifically stored in the warehouse and the method in which we deliver that product to the retailer we have been able to decrease the energy we use and the carbon footprint of each product we touch.
BEING BETTER NOT JUST BIGGER
We’re making changes everywhere to help reduce our impact on the environment. We utilize the latest dynamic route optimization technology to consolidate deliveries, which reduces emissions and roadway congestion and the size of the carbon footprint we create.
NOT JUST ON THE ROAD BUT IN THE WAREHOUSE
In the warehouse we have made a concerted effort to maximize our efficiency and limit wasted energy through the use of engineering standards and automated load diagrams.
We use automated technology and smart warehouse layouts that reduce travel paths and thus the use of energy from forklifts. We completed a lighting retrograde program with fluorescent lights, skylights, and motion-activated lights that only go on when needed thus greatly reducing our electricity consumption.
We have minimized the amount of waste we contribute to landfills by recycling shrink-wrap, slip-sheets, and cardboard as well as by returning all MHE batteries to industry recyclers that remove the lead for the manufacturing of new batteries. To date, we have recycled over 190,000 pounds of shrink-wrap and 70,000 pounds of cardboard alone.
RESPONSIBILITY
Chicago Beverage Systems is committed to the responsible sale, marketing and consumption of the products we distribute.
We create and support programs and organizations that educate our employees and consumers about alcohol issues. We also provide training and tools to retailers and the local community to help ensure the responsible consumption of our partners’ products.
UNDERAGE ALCOHOL ACCESS PREVENTION
We partner with law enforcement, healthcare professionals and retailers as well as parent teacher associations to educate parents and the community on how to keep children safe and prevent them from accessing alcohol before they are 21 years of age.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION EDUCATION
We work with the local community to bring national responsible consumption resources to the community. We often customize the best national responsible consumption programs for the specific needs of our local community. Successful projects have included a variety of approaches to prevent drunk driving and over consumption.
Strong community relationships are key to creating impactful Responsible Alcohol Consumption programs. Some of the community organizations we have partnered with are listed below with some of the programs we have utilized:
